Raw brickwork, uneven original parquet flooring, and black warehouse windows are an ideal backdrop to jewel-like tones and a kaleidoscope of colour.

The latest in a series of Brooklyn based hotel openings, The Williamsburg has begun with a phased launch offering "supreme service with a Brooklyn twist". Eight stories high with 150 rooms, the former industrial building sits on the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 10th Street.

Inside, London-based design firm, Michaelis Boyd have conceived an electric interior referencing the neighborhood’s industrial heritage through the use of reclaimed timber, exposed brickwork, glass, and steel. In bold contrast throughout, natural finishes are met with metallic touches and a playful application of contemporary colour. Each of the individually designed guest rooms (now available to reserve) feature buttoned leather upholstery, colourful textiles, and black metal light fittings.

On the ground floor, a quiet cocktail bar “made for slow sips and long talks” features an oval-shaped bar centered around a dynamic installation by local street artist Eric Reiger. Meanwhile, on the rooftop, guests will soon find a spot to relax by the pool, take in the New York skyline and sip champagne from the yet to be opened water tower bar.

“Fifty years ago, Williamsburg was a neighborhood of industry. Today it’s a bustling community full of creatives, dreamers, and doers meeting for a drink and making things happen.”
